Violette Sauvage Vide dressing returns for 2018

This weekend in Paris is the first Violette Sauvage vide dressing of 2018.

Taking place on February 10 and 11, the secondhand clothing sale promises, as always, fabulous preloved (and many new with tags) items at great prices.

If I had gone to this with say, €1,000 in my purse (and had size 5 feet) I would have bought the blue velvet Chloé Susanna boots for €450, the Maje striped jumper for €60 (this was brand new with €245 tag), The Sandro grey and blue coat for €150, the brand new Chanel court shoes, also for €150, the brand new Eric Bompard cashmere jumper with gold lace detailing for €90, and probably a whole lot more.

As it was, I settled on a real leather H&M skirt for a fiver. Because, well, I’ve got champagne tastes but a shoestring budget.

Entry costs €2. At 7 rue Lacépède, 75005

La grande braderie de Mona – My Little Paris

Mona, the pop-up co-working space created by My Little Paris, opens its doors one last time to the public today to sell off all the furniture and accessories that have graced the space over the last three months.

Despite arriving at 10am on the dot, the big queue snaking up the street suggested that most bargains would be snapped up before I even set foot inside. And indeed, the retro typewriter, velvet chairs and most of the inspirational quotes sported sold stickers or had been reserved by the time I got to them.

As expected, the big ticket items were slower to sell. If I had a fabulous Parisian apartment capable of accommodating a large sofa (and €1000 to spare) I might have been tempted to splash out, idem for the rather pricey but fabulous rugs.

What I really wanted was the printed Estée Lauder quote (“I never dreamed about success. I worked for it”), but someone else sadly got there before me.

There were, however, lots of Louise Roe vases, a large variety of plants and a fair few cushions still for sale so it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

On until 7pm at 118 rue du Turenne, Saturday 30 December.

Les Emplettes edition noël

Les Emplettes is back with its last pop-up vide dressing in Paris before the end of the year.

At the preview event tonight there were some great pieces on sale: a green leather jacket from the Chloè main line for €380, a Louis Vuitton chunky knit for €80 and a Guess black faux fur jacket, also for €80.

Also of note were the Claudie Pierlot classic parkas that are always sought after, the Balanciaga skirt for €65 and the Guess cold shoulder sparkly jumper for €40.

There’s also some new clothing pieces and new accessories-the leather coin purses for €5 would make a great stocking filler.

At 7 rue Bachaumont. 75002 from 15-17 December, 10am – 8pm

Chine Machine in Montmartre

Chine Machine is one of those seriously cool vintage shops that also stocks a good range of secondhand contemporary pieces from brands including Sandro, Surface to Air and Sessun.

Of notable mention is the shop’s selection of shoes on sale- from Lanvin to Gucci via Walter Steiger.

Some of the preloved pieces I saw during my visit to Chine Machine’s Montmartre outpost (it has another shop in the 10th) included an Alpaca-mix grey American Vintage cardigan for €25, a pale pink Acne sweatshirt for €25 and a pair of trousers by The Kooples for €15.

I didn’t buy anything for myself this time, but my friend bought a €20 leather jacket and a pair of Cole Haan leather and suede boots for €30.

At 100 rue des Martyrs, 75018

Marcel – A dépôt-vente in Butte aux Cailles

Despite having lived in the area for a number of years, I didn’t stumble across this wonderful shop until recently.

Marcel sells preloved clothing, shoes and accessories, as well boasting homeware items and section for those aged 0-14.

It’s not the cheapest overall, but there is a wide selection of brands – from Monoprix to Maje – so there is something for every budget.

I particularly liked the Maje suede jacket for €154 that I recently posted on Instagram, and a black and white Michael Kors dress that was around €60.

At 10/10 bis rue de l’espérance, 75013 Paris

Les Armoires de Paris at Grand Marché Stalingrad

Location, Location, Location. Les Armoires de Paris continues to organise secondhand clothing sales in some of coolest places in the French capital.

After setting up shop at urban farm La Recyclerie earlier this month, and at Fondation Good Planet in the Bois de Boulogne last weekend, Les Armoires de Paris will be at Grand Marché Stalingrand this Sunday.

Grand Marché Stalingrand is described as the new bastion of food and design in the east of Paris, which means you can shop until you drop and then refuel with a pizza. What’s not to like?

On Sunday 26 November, from 11am to 8pm
Grand Marché Stalingrand
6-8 place de la Bataille de Stalingrad, 75019

Les Emplettes pop-up vide dressing

Les Emplettes is back again with another pop-up vide dressing this weekend, and with the temperatures dropping in Paris it’s the perfect time to hunt down your new winter coat or stock up on some cashmere.

Expect as always lots of secondhand and preloved clothing pieces, from The Kooples to Claudie Pierlot.

At 64 rue de Turenne, 75003, Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 November, from 12-7.30pm
