Les Emplettes is a great concept on the Paris secondhand scene. A pop-up used clothing store that usually runs for two to three weeks a few times a year, Les Emplettes never pops up (excuse the pun) in the same spot twice.
You can take your clothing cast-offs in the run up to an edition and Joëlle and Tania will sell them for you, taking a commission that is generally lower than that taken by other dépôt–ventes in the French capital.
If you take your clothes to sell, you get invited to the preview evening where you can browse the items for sale and avail of a glass of champagne. And there’s nothing like champagne to make you want to start splashing the cash…
As well as a great selection of secondhand items from brands like Zara, Kookai, Sandro and Maje, this edition also features brand new scarves and leather bags which are a great idea if you are looking for Christmas gifts.
The current edition of Les Emplettes is on until December 18 at 83 rue de Turenne in Paris’ 3rd arrondissement. The next edition will take place in February.
